Kathmandu Food Tour - Overview
Discover Kathmandu through its kitchens. This guided walk takes you through the old bazaars of Asan, Indra Chowk and hidden courtyards to family-run eateries that locals have loved for generations. You’ll taste around ten dishes, from juicy momo to a traditional Newari khaja set, and learn how food ties into festivals and daily life.
You’ll taste (seasonal)
- Buff, chicken or veg momo and jhol momo.
- Newari khaja: beaten rice, bara lentil pancake, chhoila, achar.
- Sel roti, samay baji, yomari (in season) and juju dhau (king curd).
- Masala chiya and lassi.
Itinerary
Meet your guide in Thamel and walk to the historic market squares of Asan and Indra Chowk. Stop at 6–8 local eateries and street stalls, visit a spice market and small temples along the way, and finish with dessert near Kathmandu Durbar Square. Vegetarian and vegan versions are available.
